Hestra Powder Gauntlet Mitt

On the palm side, the mitt is impregnated goat leather. The back of the hand is HESTRA Niak polyester woven fabric, listed by Hestra as windproof and breathable. Fiberfill provides the insulation. The polyester fleece lining is removable, and its replacement-liner style number is 3400721.

The wrist has several parts. Elastic snugs it. A snow lock, which is an inner cuff, closes around the wrist. Hestra adds a duckbill wrist adjustment as well. And attachments for handcuffs take wrist leashes, so a leash can hold the mitt at your wrist while your hand is out of it.

Start with the shape. A mitt puts the four fingers side by side in a single compartment, where they warm each other, and gives the thumb its own space. The insulation is Fiberfill, with the fleece lining inside it. The trade is that the fingers move as a group.

The Niak backhand is windproof and breathable, per Hestra's spec. The removable lining can come out of the mitt at the end of the day.

This is a unisex mitt in Hestra's numeric sizes, and Navy/Off Wht and Beige come in 6 through 11.

Choose the Powder Gauntlet Mitt if you want a mitt shape with a goat leather palm, a snow lock and a duckbill wrist adjustment. Hestra describes its Alpine collection as gloves and mittens "developed with the recreational skier in mind."
