Hestra Powder Gauntlet 3-finger

Goat leather, impregnated, makes up the palm. HESTRA Niak polyester woven fabric forms the backhand and is listed as windproof and breathable. The insulation is Fiberfill. A polyester fleece lining sits inside and can be removed; if it ever needs replacing, Hestra's liner style number is 3400720.

Three wrist features stack up: elastic at the wrist, a snow lock, and Hestra's duckbill wrist adjustment. Think of the snow lock as a second, inner cuff that closes around the wrist. Attachments for handcuffs let you add wrist leashes, so the glove stays tethered to you when it is off your hand.

A 3-finger is a split design. The middle, ring and little fingers sit together in one compartment and share warmth, the way they would in a mitt. The index finger sits alone and moves on its own. Insulation is Fiberfill, backed by the fleece lining.

Wind is handled by the Niak backhand, which Hestra specs as windproof and breathable. After a ski day, the fleece lining can come out of the glove.

Black, Navy/Off Wht and Beige each come in sizes 6 through 11. These are Hestra's unisex numeric sizes.

The 3-finger suits skiers who want something between separate fingers and a full mitt. The other two Powder Gauntlet shapes share its palm, backhand and fill. For five separate fingers, go to the Powder Gauntlet. To put all four fingers in one shared compartment, choose the Powder Gauntlet Mitt. The Powder Short is another 5-finger option; it closes with Velcro at the cuff, and its removable lining is brushed polyester / Microfleece.
