Hestra Powder Gauntlet

The palm is impregnated goat leather. The backhand is HESTRA Niak polyester woven fabric. The insulation is Fiberfill. The lining is polyester fleece and it is removable; Hestra gives its replacement-liner style number as 3400720.

Most of the detail sits at the wrist. There is elastic at the wrist for a close fit. The snow lock is an inner cuff, and it closes around the wrist. There is also a wrist adjustment that Hestra calls a duckbill. Attachments for handcuffs, Hestra's word for wrist leashes, let you add a leash so the glove hangs from your wrist when you take it off.

Fiberfill is the insulation layer, lined with polyester fleece. Five fingers means five separate spaces, so each finger moves independently and is insulated separately, without the shared warmth of a mitt's single compartment.

Hestra specs the Niak backhand as windproof and breathable. Because the lining is removable, it can be taken out of the glove after a day on the hill.

Navy/Off Wht and Beige come in unisex sizes 6 through 11. Hestra sizes are numbers, not letters.

The Powder Gauntlet is for skiers who want separate fingers plus this family's goat leather palm, snow lock and duckbill wrist adjustment. Its siblings change the shape or the cuff. The Powder Gauntlet Mitt has the same palm, backhand and fill, with the fingers in one shared compartment where they share warmth. The Powder Gauntlet 3-finger keeps the index finger free and groups the other three. The Powder Short is also a 5-finger glove, but it has a Velcro closure at the cuff and a removable brushed polyester / Microfleece lining.
