Description
The Hestra Omni Mitt is a leather ski mitt with G-Loft insulation and a rib-knit cuff, for skiers whose fingers run cold. The shell is impregnated cowhide, lined in brushed polyester.
Cowhide, in Hestra's words, is "a durable leather with good impregnation properties," and Hestra uses it in many of its ski gloves. On the Omni Mitt it is the listed outer material.
Inside are G-Loft insulation and a brushed polyester lining. Hestra doesn't list the lining as removable. The rib-knitted cuff stretches as you pull the mitt on and then hugs the wrist, with elastic at the wrist for a closer fit. A puller at the cuff gives you something to hold while you get it on, and handcuffs, which are wrist leashes, let you pull a hand out without dropping the mitt.
The mitt is insulated with G-Loft, and its shape helps hold that warmth. All four fingers share one space, so they warm each other rather than sitting apart. The trade-off is dexterity, since the fingers can't move separately.
Hestra's own description of cowhide is that it "resists moisture and abrasion well."
Offered in unisex sizes 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, with Blk/Blk, Royal Blue/Royal Blue and Tan/Tan in every size.
The Omni Mitt is part of Hestra's Alpine Pro collection. Hestra says those gloves are used by freeriders, mountain guides and ski instructors, and that they "stand up to heavy wear and tear." Choose it if your fingers run cold and you want a leather mitt with a rib-knit cuff.
If you need separate fingers, the Hestra Omni is the five-finger version with the same cowhide outer, G-Loft insulation, brushed polyester lining and rib-knit cuff, along with elastic at the wrist, a puller and handcuffs.
