Hestra Idre Wool Mitt

Impregnated hairsheep leather covers the outside of the mitt. For insulation, Hestra uses Lavalan, which its spec describes as "insulation made of 85% wool from Swedish sheep and 15% from corn starch." As for the lining, it blends 70% merino wool with 30% polyamide, and the spec does not list it as removable.

Two features handle the fit. Elastic at the wrist keeps the mitt close around the wrist. A Velcro closure at the cuff cinches the opening down, or opens it up when the mitt comes off.

Here the shape and the fill work together. Inside a mitt, four fingers occupy one shared compartment and share their warmth; the thumb stays separate. The Lavalan insulation is 85% wool and the lining is 70% merino wool, so wool is part of both layers. The fingers move as one unit rather than one by one.

The mitt comes in unisex sizes 6 through 11, in Black and in Cork, and both colors share that same run.

Choose the Idre Wool Mitt if you want a leather shell, wool inside and a mitt shape. Hestra says its Alpine collection was "developed with the recreational skier in mind," and this is the version of the Idre where the fingers share one compartment. If you want each finger in its own space, the Idre Wool is the 5-finger version. The two Idre styles share every listed material and feature: impregnated hairsheep leather, Lavalan insulation, a 70% merino wool lining, and two features, elastic at the wrist and a Velcro closure at the cuff. Hand shape is the listed difference.
