Description
The Hestra Idre Wool is a unisex five-finger leather ski glove for recreational skiers who want leather outside and wool inside. The outer is impregnated hairsheep leather, the insulation is Lavalan, and the lining is 70% merino wool and 30% polyamide.
The whole outer is impregnated hairsheep leather. Insulation is Lavalan, which Hestra describes as "insulation made of 85% wool from Swedish sheep and 15% from corn starch." The lining is 70% merino wool and 30% polyamide. Hestra doesn't list the lining as removable.
Hestra lists two features, both at the wrist and cuff. Elastic at the wrist holds the glove close. The Velcro closure at the cuff cinches it down, or opens it up when you want the glove off.
Wool is in two layers here: the Lavalan insulation (85% wool) and the lining (70% merino wool). Each of the five fingers has its own space, so each one moves independently and is insulated on its own. A mitt works the other way: the fingers share one compartment and its warmth, and they move together.
Black and Cork both come in unisex sizes 6 through 11, so color doesn't limit your size choice. Measure your hand before choosing a size.
The Idre Wool is for skiers who like leather and want Lavalan and merino wool inside, with each finger in its own space. It sits in Hestra's Alpine collection, which Hestra says was "developed with the recreational skier in mind." If you would rather have the fingers share warmth in one compartment, look at the Idre Wool Mitt. Its spec is identical, with the same impregnated hairsheep leather, Lavalan insulation, merino wool lining, elastic at the wrist and Velcro closure at the cuff, so on Hestra's spec the two differ in hand shape alone.
