Hestra Gauntlet Sr Mitt

The backhand is HESTRA Proton polyamide fabric. The palm is PU, and the insulation is Fiberfill.

The Bemberg/Polyester mitten lining comes out; for a replacement, Hestra's liner style number is 3400721. There are attachments for handcuffs, Hestra's term for wrist leashes; with a leash added, the mitt can hang from your wrist when it is off your hand. Elastic at the wrist holds the fit close. The snow lock is an inner cuff that closes around the wrist.

Fiberfill does the insulating, with the Bemberg/Polyester lining inside. Then there is the mitt shape: four fingers in one compartment share their warmth, and the thumb sits in a space of its own. Grouped like that, the fingers move together instead of one by one.

On the outside, Hestra specs the Proton backhand as windproof and breathable. The lining comes out of the shell, so the two can be separated after a day on the hill.

Hestra uses numeric sizes, and this mitt is unisex. The size run depends on the color. Blk/Blk and Dark Sand/Graphite come in sizes 6 through 12. Dark Navy/Beige comes in 6 through 11, so size 12 comes only in Blk/Blk and Dark Sand/Graphite.

The Alpine collection, in Hestra's words, was "developed with the recreational skier in mind." Within it, the Gauntlet Sr Mitt suits the skier who wants the fingers sharing warmth in one compartment. Two siblings share the same HESTRA Proton backhand, PU palm and Fiberfill. The Gauntlet Sr has five separate fingers. The Gauntlet Sr 3-finger gives the index finger its own space and uses a 5-finger lining (3400720).
