Hestra Gauntlet CZone Jr 3-finger

The backhand is a polyester fabric, and Hestra's spec calls it windproof, waterproof and breathable. There's a PU grip in the palm. Insulation is Fiberfill and foam. The CZone insert and the five-finger lining complete the inside, and the lining isn't listed as removable.

The wrist gets three things: a snow lock, meaning an inner cuff that closes around the wrist; elastic; and a wrist strap that fastens with Velcro. Handcuffs, Hestra's word for wrist leashes, come as part of the spec, and Hestra lists Wolf Paw construction too. When the glove gets grubby, it goes in the machine.

Think of the three-finger shape as a compromise you pick on purpose. The middle, ring and little fingers are bunched together, so they warm each other the way fingers do in a mitt. The index finger stays free to grip. Fiberfill and foam do the insulating.

For wet snow, the CZone insert is the waterproof layer. The snow lock closes the gap where glove meets wrist.

Junior sizes are numbered, 3 through 7. Dark Navy/Sky Blue, Grey/Blk, Parfait/Black and Fuchsia/Ivory each come in all five.

It suits a kid whose fingers get cold in a five-finger glove but who finds a mitt too clumsy.
