The Hestra CZone Frame Mitt is a waterproof resort mitten: CZone membrane, Primaloft Gold insulation, Niak polyester backhand, hairsheep leather palm — on a rib-knit cuff, not a gauntlet. That is the trade: the membrane stops water soaking through the shell, but a knit cuff will not seal your wrist against deep snow.
The Hestra CZone Frame Mitt pairs Hestra's own Niak woven polyester — windproof, breathable — with an impregnated hairsheep leather palm. The waterproofing is a separate layer, not the fabric: the CZone insert, Hestra's own membrane, "which stops wetness while letting out moisture." Inside: Primaloft Gold, Hestra's "soft, down-like insulation," and a brushed polyester five-finger liner, sewn in — the mitt dries as one piece. The cuff is rib-knit polyamide, with elastic at the wrist and attachment points for handcuffs.
The Hestra CZone Frame Mitt is a true membrane glove: its spec carries the CZone insert, and Hestra marks its CZone models Waterproof: Yes — "The glove features a waterproof membrane that prevents moisture from reaching your hands, keeping them dry in wet and snowy conditions." Several of the Hestra leather gloves we stock carry Waterproof: No, water-resistant only; this one carries the membrane. Hestra grades warmth 1–8 but publishes no grade for the 26/27 Frame Mitt, so we quote none.
The Hestra CZone Frame Mitt has no snow lock and no gauntlet. The rib-knit cuff and wrist elastic close the mitt; they do not lock snow out. On a deep day, or after a fall, snow packs in at the wrist, where no membrane helps.
The Hestra CZone Frame Mitt runs on Hestra's unisex sizing: measure your hand's circumference just below the knuckles, thumb excluded. Hestra's rule is that a sport glove "should have a small gap between the hand and the material. The air trapped in this space helps insulate and retain warmth." Between two unisex sizes, take the larger.
PTO stocks the Hestra CZone Frame Mitt in three colours and the size runs differ: Black and Beige in 6–9, Candy in 6–8. Size 9 is Black or Beige only.
Buy the Hestra CZone Frame Mitt for lift days in wet, cold snow: the fingers share one chamber, which is where a mitt's warmth comes from, and the CZone membrane handles the water.
Do not buy the Hestra CZone Frame Mitt for deep snow, or for work that needs fingers. For powder, the Hestra CZone Mountain Mitt we also stock has the same membrane plus a snow lock, a Velcro wrist closure and a cuff puller; Hestra rates it 7/8 warmth, "Extreme." For buckles and zippers, buy a five-finger glove.
