The Army Leather GORE-TEX 3-finger is the middle rung of a three-shape ladder, all $230: the 5-finger is more dexterous, the mitt warmer. Three fingers share one compartment and warm each other, so Hestra rates it 7/8 "Extreme" for warmth but 4/8 "Good" for mobility. That trade is physics, not opinion.
The palm is impregnated Army goat leather — Hestra calls it "durable and proofed goat leather" — cut in Eagle Grip construction, which pre-curves the glove into a closed hand so you are not fighting it to hold a pole. The backhand is Hestra's recycled Triton polyamide (100% RE-Nylon): windproof, water resistant, breathable. Insulation is G-Loft polyester, which Hestra says holds its insulating capacity even in wet conditions; the lining is Bemberg. Durability is 7/8 "Heavy duty", a notch above both siblings at 6/8. Made in Hai Phong, Vietnam.
This glove is waterproof, and the why matters. Hestra's Performance spec answers Waterproof: Yes, because of a GORE-TEX ePE insert — a membrane laminated inside the glove, made without PFAS — that prevents moisture from reaching your hands. The insert does that, not the shell: Hestra rates the Triton backhand only water resistant. Warmth is 7/8 "Extreme", insulation engineered for extreme cold in Hestra's words — a ceiling as much as a feature, because on a mild day it will run hot. Hestra publishes no weight and no millimetre rating.
Hestra sizes by hand circumference, not S/M/L. The official run is 6 through 11, identical in both of Hestra's colourways; PTO stocks one colourway, Black & Black (art no 3003022-100100), in sizes 7, 8, 9 and 10, so colour does not limit which sizes you can get here. The cuff carries a snow lock, Velcro and elastic at the wrist, handcuff leashes and a carabiner.
Buy it if you run cold, ski cold wet storm days, and want a leather palm that survives seasons of pole plants and lift bars. Look elsewhere if you need fine finger work — at 4/8 mobility, zips, buckles and phones are fiddly, and the 5-finger (3003020) is the same price, same membrane, 6/8 "Agile" mobility. If warmth is all you care about, the mitt (3003021) reaches 8/8 "Expedition" at the same $230, mobility down at 2/8. The goat-leather palm wants periodic conditioning.
