The LEKI SWTCH Pow is a fixed-length aluminum pole built around a single-piece TS 4.5 aluminum shaft at 18 mm diameter — the same alloy LEKI uses across much of its entry-to-mid-range alpine lineup. That choice keeps the price accessible while giving you a shaft stiff enough to plant cleanly on hardpack. The defining difference between the SWTCH Pow and the standard SWTCH is the basket: where the regular model comes with a compact Performance basket sized for groomed runs, the Pow swaps in a large snowflake basket that floats in soft and variable snow without catching or dragging. The grip is LEKI's Downhill Soft Racing shape with a continuously adjustable buckle strap — traditional, secure, and sized to work over a glove. Steel tip, no fuss.
This pole is aimed at resort skiers who spend meaningful time in soft conditions — trees, ungroomed terrain, the occasional powder day — and want one pole that handles both without stepping up to a backcountry or touring setup. Because it's fixed-length and built from aluminum rather than carbon, it's heavier in hand than something like LEKI's carbon Spire or Aergon series, and it has more swing weight than you'd feel in a lighter shaft; if you're chasing speed gates or logging high-mileage touring days, those things will matter. It also uses a standard buckle strap rather than LEKI's Trigger S release system, so it is not the right call for anyone who wants quick pole release in a fall or in lift lines. If you mostly ski groomed blue and black runs and don't need the big basket, the standard SWTCH at the same price point makes more sense. But if your days regularly include the soft stuff and you want a durable, straightforward pole that won't break the bank, the SWTCH Pow delivers exactly that.
