The Dancer Grom is Faction's junior all-mountain ski — the same Austrian-built Dancer DNA scaled down for developing skiers, without the titanal of the adult line. That's not a compromise; it's the right call. A poplar wood core keeps the ski light enough that a ten-year-old can actually bend it and feel the snow, and the rocker-camber-rocker profile — real camber underfoot with tip and tail rocker — means it holds an edge on groomers while still washing out gracefully when a grom goes off-piste into soft snow. The elliptical sidecut (longer radius underfoot, tighter at the tips and tail) helps with pivot and quick turn initiation without making the ski twitchy. The freeride flat tail adds a small amount of directional speed and makes the ski feel confident at whatever speed a junior skier is actually hitting. Nothing about the construction is flashy; it's just well-made gear that won't fight a kid who's still figuring out their technique.
This ski is built for juniors in the 128–155cm size range who are past the wedge-and-stop phase and starting to explore the whole mountain — groomed blues, the occasional tree run, a bit of powder. The flex is soft enough to be forgiving but not so wet that it gets unpredictable at speed, and the 92mm waist at the 146cm length handles variable snow without feeling like a plow. It is not a race ski, and it's not for a kid who skis three times a year and needs maximum forgiveness — for that, a softer dedicated beginner junior ski makes more sense. And if your junior is already charging aggressively and outgrowing junior flex, step up to the adult Dancer 1 or Dancer 2. The Dancer Grom ships as a flat ski; pair it with a Marker L6 or M10 binding (Faction sells both as bundles) appropriate to the skier's weight and DIN range.
