Blizzard Rustler 11

The take
“114 underfoot and it still feels like a ski, not a surfboard.”
The Rustler 11 is Blizzard's powder and big mountain freeride ski — 114mm waist, rocker-heavy, designed to float. But unlike a lot of fat skis, it doesn't feel aimless on groomers. The FluxForm titanal and carbon keep it composed enough to make real turns on the way to the lift.
At 2,070g in the 186, it's not the lightest powder ski out there, but the TrueBlend Free core with paulownia keeps it manageable. The weight is distributed well — the ski doesn't feel heavy in the tip or tail, just solid underfoot. On deep days, it floats effortlessly. In chopped-up afternoon powder, the extra substance keeps it from getting thrown around.
20.5m radius is long — this ski wants big turns. Don't expect to thread tight trees on it. Open bowls, wide chutes, and big open faces are where it shines. The rocker profile is aggressive enough that turn initiation in soft snow is almost automatic.
Compared to the Atomic N Bent 110 (similar width class), the Rustler 11 is more damp and composed at speed, but less playful and less surfboard-y. The N Bent is more fun in waist-deep pow. The Rustler is more ski-like when conditions are less than perfect.
