The Atomic Hawx Magna 90 is the soft, wide entry boot of the Hawx Magna line — a 102 mm high-volume alpine boot at flex 90, built for comfort over power. It sells for $480, the lowest price in the standard line, and comes in one color, Black/Slate.
Its shell and cuff are polypropylene — the one all-PP boot in the standard line, and the reason it is the lightest and softest of them. The Select Bronze liner, which heat-molds to the foot, is the part that customizes here; a stretch zone at the toe lets a fitter open the forefoot. The 90 skips Atomic's Memory Fit shell tech, so any listing that credits it with Memory Fit, a Mimic liner or added insulation is quoting a pricier model. Four aluminum buckles and a power strap close it, and the forward lean is set, not adjustable.
The fit suits wide forefeet and tall insteps — feet a narrower shell pinches — plus lighter, newer or comfort-minded skiers after an easy, forgiving flex. A slim foot is the wrong buyer: it floats in this shell and belongs in the narrower Prime or Ultra. Skiers who ski hard or weigh more will find the soft flex short on support and should move up the ladder to the 110 or 130 S. For a women's-specific shape, the Magna W line keeps the last but drops to a low cuff.
Before it goes on snow, the sole needs sorting. Atomic premounts a GripWalk sole here (the ISO 23223 standard), a rockered walking sole, so it pairs with GripWalk-rated bindings only — a GripWalk, MNC or MN system. A flat-sole alpine binding built for a different standard is not a safe match; the boot also has no touring inserts. Have a shop tech match the sole to your bindings and set them on a machine first. Because every Magna shares that 102 mm last, the entry model gives the same wide fit as the dearer boots, just softer and simpler.
The Magna 90 carries an all-polypropylene shell and cuff — alone in the standard line — which is why it is the softest and lightest Magna in the standard line, 1702 g per boot at the reference size, against 1881 g for the PU-shelled 100.
