Description

Atomic's Four AMID Lite is an all-mountain ski helmet, the light, pared-back adult model in Atomic's low-profile Four family. Atomic's datasheet gives EN 1077:2007 Class B (CE) certification plus ASTM F 2040, the helmet pairs AMID with a one-piece In-Mold Shell at 360 g for size S, and the Celadon and Iron Ore helmets in our listing run from 51 to 63 cm head circumference across three sizes (51–55, 55–59, 59–63 cm).

AMID is Atomic's multi-directional impact deflector, and Atomic's own write-up names Holo Core alongside it. Both are Atomic's systems layered over the certification rather than standards in themselves, and Atomic lists no Mips. The shell is a polycarbonate outer with the EPS foam molded in. Fit is set with the 360° Fit System, which adjusts to head size and shape and also for height. The full cap liner and its 3D-molded ear pads come out for washing, Atomic's current page adds a Merino 3M X-Static lining, and Atomic says the removable liner and goggle clip let you wear a beanie and goggles under the shell. The goggle clip comes off the back of the helmet for a cleaner look. Retail spec sheets list the Aircon vents as fixed; Atomic's page names no way to close them. Atomic lists a helmet bag with it.

If your head measures over 63 cm, this listing does not reach you: Atomic's size run goes to 63–65 cm, but that size is not offered in this Celadon and Iron Ore listing. Under 51 cm is below its smallest size.

At PTO we measure your head and fit the helmet in the shop with your goggles on.

Atomic logo

Technology

AMID

Atomic Multi-directional Impact Deflector, Atomic’s own system for impacts from different directions. It sits on top of the EN 1077 and ASTM F 2040 certification; it is not a standard and not Mips.

In-Mold Shell

EPS foam molded into a polycarbonate shell in one piece, which Atomic builds for a light helmet.

360° Fit System

Fine-tunes the helmet to head size and shape and is height-adjustable, so it can sit at the right height on your head.

Aircon Venting

Air channels through each layer of the helmet. Retail spec sheets list the vents on this model as fixed; they cannot be closed.

Full cap liner with Merino lining

A removable, washable liner with 3D-molded ear pads, plus a Merino 3M X-Static lining newly listed by Atomic.

Features

  • ·Removable, washable full cap liner
  • ·3D-molded ear pads built into the liner
  • ·Merino 3M X-Static lining
  • ·Removable goggle clip
  • ·Removable liner leaves room for a beanie under the shell
  • ·Helmet bag listed by Atomic

The Atomic Four AMID Lite is the pared-back helmet of Atomic’s adult Four family: the low profile and AMID system of the Four AMID Pro, a simpler one-piece shell, and 360 g in size S. Atomic’s feature list for it names neither the Pro’s Fidlock buckle nor its Live Fit pads, and nothing on Atomic’s page says the vents close.

On protection, the Four AMID Lite starts where every ski helmet should, with certification: Atomic’s datasheet names ASTM F 2040 and CE EN 1077:2007 Class B. The helmet pairs an In-Mold Shell, EPS foam molded into a polycarbonate outer, with Atomic’s multi-directional AMID deflector. Atomic’s description pairs AMID with Holo Core and sells the combination as up to 40% more impact protection than industry safety standards. That figure is Atomic’s own, with no test method on its page, and Holo Core is named only in that description, not in the Lite’s feature list. Read both as extras on top of the certification, not a replacement for it. Atomic lists no Mips on it.

Against the Four AMID Pro, choosing the Four AMID Lite comes down to fit hardware. Both use the height-adjustable 360° Fit System. The Pro adds Live Fit pads that mold to your head and a magnetic Fidlock buckle you can work one-handed in gloves, on a Hybrid In-Mold shell, for 20 g more: 380 g against 360 g in size S. If you fight your chin strap at every lift, the Pro is worth the step up. If you want the lighter, plainer helmet and a buckle is a buckle to you, the Lite is the one.

Temperature is the Four AMID Lite’s real limit. Aircon Venting runs air channels through each layer of the helmet, and retail spec sheets list the vents as fixed, so air keeps moving whether you want it or not. On a sunny spring day or a hard-skied bump run, that is the point. On a cold, windy chair there is nothing to shut, and a beanie, which Atomic’s removable liner makes room for, is the fix. If cold, windy days fill much of your season, the Revent AMID has vents you adjust by hand, for 90 g more: 450 g against 360 g in size S.

For sizing the Four AMID Lite, run a tape across the middle of your forehead, above your ears and around the bump at the back of your head. Our Celadon and Iron Ore listing covers 51–55, 55–59 and 59–63 cm; Atomic makes a 63–65 cm size, but it is not in our listing. Adjacent sizes share end points at 55 and 59 cm, so on a boundary we fit the size the 360° Fit System closes snugly around with your goggle in place.

Common Questions

Atomic Four AMID Lite vs Four AMID Pro: what is the difference?
The Atomic Four AMID Lite uses a single In-Mold Shell and weighs 360 g in size S, and Atomic lists no Live Fit pads or Fidlock buckle on it. The Four AMID Pro adds both on a Hybrid In-Mold shell at 380 g in size S. Both share the 360° Fit System and AMID.
Atomic Four AMID Lite vs Revent AMID: which should I get?
The Atomic Four AMID Lite is the lighter helmet at 360 g in size S, and retail spec sheets list its vents as fixed. The Revent AMID weighs 450 g in size S but has Active Aircon vents you adjust by hand. Pick the Revent AMID if you ski many cold, windy days.
What size Atomic Four AMID Lite should I get?
Our Atomic Four AMID Lite listing comes in S 51–55, M 55–59 and L 59–63 cm head circumference. Measure across the center of the forehead, above the ears and over the back of the head. If you measure right on a shared end point, pick the size whose fit system tightens firmly with your goggle on.
What certifications does the Atomic Four AMID Lite have, and does it have Mips?
Atomic lists the Four AMID Lite to CE EN 1077:2007 Class B and ASTM F 2040. Atomic lists no Mips on it; AMID is Atomic’s own added impact system, and Atomic’s description pairs it with Holo Core. Neither is a certification.
Can you close the vents on the Atomic Four AMID Lite?
No. The Atomic Four AMID Lite uses Aircon Venting, and retail spec sheets list its vents as fixed, so air moves through the helmet all day. That suits warm days and hard work; on cold, windy days a beanie under the shell, which the removable liner allows, is the fix.
Is the Atomic Four AMID Lite good for beginners?
Yes, the Atomic Four AMID Lite suits beginners as much as experienced skiers, because a helmet’s job does not change with ability. The choice turns on fit, venting and features. Get your head measured and the helmet fitted with your goggle on before your first day.
