The Anon Raider 3 is a hardshell ski and snowboard helmet for people who want protection without fiddly parts: an Endura ABS outer, EPS foam inside, and an elastic rear closure, not a dial, that settles around your head by itself.
That outer shell is injection-molded ABS, the material Anon picks for durability and resistance to dings, and the EPS layer beneath it is what absorbs an impact. Fixed vent channels move air through from front to back with snow stopper fabric behind them, and fleece covers the liner and ear pads. Pockets in the ear pads accept audio speakers.
Anon makes two head shapes. Regular suits oval heads; Round Fit suits heads whose width comes close to their length.

Anon’s Raider 3 earns its place as a set-once helmet. Anon’s own guide steers entry-level shoppers to it, and nothing on the Raider 3’s technology list needs setting before a run: no fit dial, no vent slider.
Fit is the first trade-off. With no dial, the Raider 3 cannot be tightened if you land between sizes, so measure before you buy. Among 88 customer reviews on Anon’s own site, six describe the fit as snug, tight or smaller than expected, and two reviewers went up a size to fit a hat underneath. A head that feels pressure at the sides in the Regular shape has the Round Fit version to try.
Weight and airflow are the second. Anon’s guide says Endura hardshells usually feel a little heavier than in-mold helmets, and Anon lists the Raider 3 at 480 g without naming the size weighed. The vents are passive, which means fixed: nothing opens on a warm spring lap or closes on a windy chair.
Against its siblings, the Raider 3 loses on adjustability. The Rodan moves to an in-mold shell with a 360° BOA® dial, and Anon’s guide points to the Merak WaveCel® for vents that open and close. Choose the Raider 3 when a durable, no-fuss hardshell matters more to you than a dial, adjustable vents or a Mips layer.

Anon’s own helmet guide says certifications and protection inserts may allow a better level of protection, but nothing is absolute. Anon also advises inspecting a helmet after any crash and retiring it if in doubt, because damage may not be visible, and replacing it every five years or sooner.

- Mips is not on the Raider 3’s technology list. Anon sells a separate Raider 3 MIPS® that lists the same Auto-Adjust fit and passive ventilation plus a Mips low-friction layer; for 26/27 Anon lists it in black only. Mips is a rotational system, not a certification.
