Description

The Anon M4 (Cylindrical) is the goggle Anon calls its most advanced: an XL frame, a cylindrical Perceive lens and Magna-Tech magnetic lens changes, with an MFI face mask and a second lens in the box. Anon's size guide puts the frame at 103 mm tall and 184 mm wide, with 188° of horizontal and 96° of vertical field of view on the cylindrical lens.

Magna-Tech holds the lens with rare-earth N52 magnets, and integrated grab tabs let you pull one lens and seat the other with gloves on. The frame is not locked to one lens shape either: Anon's M4 lens page says it takes toric lenses as well as cylindrical. Perceive tints are Anon's high-contrast lenses, with an outer coating that sheds water and smudges, and an anti-fog treatment on the inside. Behind the lens, a dual-density frame of PC-ABS and TPU (rigid outside, soft where it meets your face) carries ramped, moisture-wicking foam and a full-perimeter vent channel. Anon rates the frame over-the-glasses compatible.

Spare tints vary by colorway; a Sunny Red lens (14%, S3), for example, comes with a Cloudy Burst spare (59%, S1). The MFI mask attaches to the goggle magnetically, and a Magna-Tech storage case and a lens protector also come in the box.

Anon lists the M4 for medium and large faces, so small faces sit outside its range, and pairs it with Anon helmets from Medium through X-Large. Pick Regular or Low Bridge; the Low Bridge version adds nose-pocket foam for lower nose bridges. Bring your helmet and we'll check the goggle-to-helmet gap with you before you buy.

Anon M4 (Cylindrical)

M4 family · 26/27

Anon logo

Technology

Magna-Tech®

Anon's magnetic quick-change lens mount. The M4 version uses N52 rare-earth magnets plus grab tabs on the lens, so a swap works in gloves; Anon says the magnets also give a secure lens-to-frame seal.

Perceive Lens

Anon's high-contrast lens tints. Anon says proprietary color absorbers filter two parts of the light spectrum to ease flat light, and a hydrophobic, oleophobic outer coating resists water and smudges.

Integral Clarity Technology

Anon's anti-fog treatment. The inside of Perceive lenses is nano-etched so the anti-fog coating bonds and lasts; Anon's care advice is never to wipe the inner lens but to let a fogged lens air-dry.

MFI® (Magnetic Face Mask Integration)

A magnetic carrier inside Anon MFI masks draws the mask to the goggle and seals it there, in Anon's description. The M4 uses the XL carrier; Anon ships each MFI mask with all three carrier sizes.

Features

  • ·Cylindrical Perceive lens; toric M4 lenses fit the same frame
  • ·Magna-Tech lens change with N52 magnets and grab tabs
  • ·Full Perimeter dual-density PC-ABS/TPU frame
  • ·MFI magnetic face mask integration, mask included
  • ·Over-the-glasses compatible frame
  • ·Full-perimeter venting and ramped, moisture-wicking foam
  • ·No-slip silicone strap
  • ·Regular or Low Bridge fit

The Anon M4 (Cylindrical) makes the most sense for a medium-to-large face that changes lenses during the day. Its 188° horizontal view is the widest in Anon's goggle size guide, and two independent outlets single out its magnetic system: a lab review of the toric M4, which uses this same frame, swapped lenses on the chairlift with the goggle still on, and a separate roundup timed Anon's M-series swaps at 5 seconds.

The M4's catch is size. The frame is Anon's XL class, and that lab review found it tends to fit larger-faced testers very well; testers with medium and smaller faces could wear it but often preferred a smaller fit. Anon's helmet chart doesn't pair the M4 with its Small helmets. For a medium face, the M4S puts the same system in a 98 × 177 mm frame.

Two dings on the M4 are worth knowing. One roundup found the included MFI mask 'a bit futzy' to attach with gloves on, and the lab tester noticed a bit of cheek fatigue wearing it for long stretches. Another roundup calls Perceive particularly good but finds Anon's lenses, in general, a little short of the Smith, Oakley and Giro lens lines on overall quality.

The M4's lens pairing matters more than the frame color. Sunny Onyx colorways pair a 6% S4 lens with a 34% S2 spare, so there is no S1 cloudy-day lens in the box; the Sunny Red and Variable Blue or Green colorways ship an S1 spare. Against its siblings, the M5 keeps 176.5° of view in a 171 mm-wide frame, and the Nesa lists more vertical view (99.3°) on a notch-and-tab lens mount.

Strengths

  • +Widest horizontal view in Anon's size guide: 188° cylindrical
  • +N52 magnets and grab tabs allow glove-on lens swaps
  • +The M4 frame also takes Anon's toric M4 lenses
  • +Face mask, spare lens and storage case come in the box
  • +Offered in Regular and Low Bridge fits

Best For

Medium-to-large faces on Anon Medium, Large or X-Large helmets who swap lenses on the hill and want the most horizontal view of any goggle in Anon's size guide, with a face mask and spare lens in the box.

Limitations

  • −XL frame runs large for small faces
  • −One roundup found the MFI mask fiddly with gloves on
  • −Sunny Onyx colorways include no S1 cloudy-day spare lens
  • −Anon doesn't publish a weight or strap width

Not For

Small faces, which Anon sizes its scaled M5S, M6S and Nesa S for; Anon Small helmets, which aren't ticked for the M4 on Anon's chart; and medium faces that find the M4 loose, who should try the M4S. Storm-day riders should skip the Sunny Onyx colorways, whose spare is an S2 lens rather than an S1, and riders chasing the tallest view in Anon's guide should compare the Nesa's 99.3° vertical figure.

Common Questions

What is the difference between the Anon M4 and the M4S?
The M4S is the scaled version. Anon's size guide lists the M4 frame at 103 × 184 mm with 188° of horizontal view on the cylindrical lens, and the M4S at 98 × 177 mm with 179°. Anon's chart pairs the M4 with Medium, Large and X-Large helmets and the M4S with Medium and Large; both use Magna-Tech.
Can I put a toric lens in the cylindrical Anon M4?
Yes. Anon calls the M4 compatible with both cylindrical and toric lenses on its lens page, and sells M4 lenses in both shapes. Anon's size guide lists less view with the toric lens on this frame: 175° horizontal and 89° vertical, against 188° and 96° with the cylindrical.
What does Low Bridge mean on the Anon M4?
It is Anon's fit for lower nose bridges, with extra foam in the nose pocket to close the gap there; Anon says it also improves the seal and reduces fogging. Regular Bridge is Anon's standard fit. If cold air leaks in at your nose, Anon's own fit guide suggests testing a low-bridge goggle.
Which Anon M4 lens pairing is best for flat light?
Pick a colorway whose spare is an S1 lens: Sunny Red (14%, S3) comes with Cloudy Burst (59%, S1), and Variable Blue or Variable Green come with Cloudy Pink (53%, S1). Sunny Onyx (6%, S4) colorways come with Variable Violet (34%, S2), which Anon files under variable light, not cloudy.
Can I wear glasses under the Anon M4?
Yes, Anon lists the M4 as over-the-glasses compatible. An OTG label doesn't guarantee that large or bulky glasses fit, so bring yours in and try them under the goggle before you buy.
