Indoor Ski & Snowboard Lessons Near Portland

Oregon's only Maxxtracks indoor ski machine — right here in Beaverton, 10 minutes from downtown Portland. Private lessons, family packages, and 8-week programs for ages 3 and up.

Learn to Ski or Snowboard Without the Mountain

PTO Ski & Snowboard operates the only indoor ski and snowboard lesson facility in Oregon. Our Maxxtracks revolving slope simulates real snow conditions indoors, letting students learn and practice year-round — no lift tickets, no weather delays, no crowds. The machine's speed and incline adjust to each student's level, and your instructor stands right beside you for real-time feedback.

Whether you are a 3-year-old stepping onto skis for the first time or an intermediate rider looking to refine your carving before ski season, indoor lessons offer a focused, efficient way to build real skills. Most students see measurable improvement within their first 30-minute session.

Who Are Indoor Lessons For?

  • Complete beginners — Learn balance, stopping, and turning in a safe, controlled environment before ever visiting a ski resort.
  • Young children (ages 3–6) — Our Tiny Slider program introduces skiing gently, without the overwhelming sensory overload of a busy mountain.
  • Intermediate riders — Work on parallel turns, carving, or switch riding with one-on-one coaching and instant replay of technique.
  • Pre-season tune-up — Shake off the rust in October so you are ready when Mt. Hood opens in November.
  • Families — Mix beginners and intermediates in a single family session. Everyone rides, everyone improves.

Multilingual Instruction

PTO offers indoor lessons in English, Spanish, and Chinese (Mandarin). Let us know your preferred language when booking and we will pair you with the right instructor. This is especially valuable for young children who learn best in their first language.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age can children start indoor ski or snowboard lessons?
Our Tiny Slider program accepts children as young as 3 years old. Kids ride on our Maxxtracks revolving slope with a dedicated instructor in a safe, controlled environment. No chairlifts, no cold weather, and no crowds — just focused learning.
Do I need to bring my own equipment for indoor lessons?
No. All equipment is included with every lesson — skis or snowboard, boots, helmet, and any other necessary gear. Just wear comfortable, athletic clothing and socks that cover your ankles.
How does an indoor ski machine work?
Our Maxxtracks revolving slope is essentially a treadmill for skiing and snowboarding. A textured surface moves downhill beneath you while you remain in the same spot, allowing your instructor to stand right beside you and give real-time coaching. The speed and incline are adjustable, so the machine adapts to your skill level.
Are indoor lessons available year-round?
Yes. Unlike on-mountain lessons, our indoor facility operates 12 months a year. Many customers use summer lessons to build skills before winter, while others maintain technique during the off-season. Call 971-263-2916 or visit ptobeaverton.com to check availability.
What languages are lessons offered in?
We offer instruction in English, Spanish, and Chinese (Mandarin). Let us know your language preference when booking and we will match you with the right instructor.
