Buying Guide
How to Choose Ski Boots
Ski boots are the most important piece of equipment you'll own. A great ski on the wrong boot feels terrible. A mediocre ski on a well-fitted boot feels great. Fit is everything — and fit means more than just size.
Last Width
The width of the boot at its widest point. 96-98mm is narrow/performance. 99-101mm is medium — fits most feet. 102-104mm is wide. Don't buy wide just because medium feels snug in the store; a bootfitter can punch out pressure points.
Flex Rating
60-80 for beginners (soft, forgiving). 85-100 for intermediates. 105-120 for advanced skiers. 120+ for racers and experts. Too stiff and you can't initiate turns. Too soft and the ski won't respond.
Shell Fit Test
Remove the liner. Slide your bare foot into the shell with toes touching the front. One finger behind your heel = performance fit. One to two fingers = all-mountain fit. More than two = too big.
FAQ
What ski boot brands do you carry?
We carry Atomic, Rossignol, and Dalbello ski boots. Every fitting is done in-store by a certified instructor at our Beaverton shop.
Should ski boots feel tight?
Yes — snug, not painful. Liners pack out over time. A boot that feels comfortable on day one will feel too loose by day ten. Trust the fitter, not your instinct to size up.
Do you do custom boot fitting?
Yes. We check shell fit, alignment, and flex. We can punch shells, heat-mold liners, and adjust cant. If something doesn't feel right after a day on the mountain, bring them back.
