Rossignol Sender Soul Pro

The take
“The boys' version of Rossignol's junior freeride -- same DNA, different graphics.”
The Sender Soul Pro is the boys' counterpart to the Rallybird Soul Pro. Structurally, they're essentially the same ski: PEFC poplar core, cap construction, twin rocker, progressive sidecut, V-A-S damping. The Sender adds "Extended Core" technology which slightly increases ski-snow contact for a bit more torsional stability, but the overall character is identical.
This ski is designed for young skiers who are past the beginner phase and ready to explore the whole mountain. The twin rocker profile keeps things forgiving -- turn entry is easy, the tips don't catch, and the tail releases without drama. The progressive sidecut means skidded turns work fine at lower speeds, but the ski will carve a clean arc when the kid starts committing to the edges.
The V-A-S damping is doing real work here. Junior skiers don't have the body mass to dampen vibration through weight alone, so the vibration-absorbing system compensates. The result is a smoother ride than you'd expect from a lightweight junior ski.
At 130-180cm, this covers a wide age range. The sweet spot is the intermediate junior skier, roughly ages 7-14, who's confidently skiing blues and starting on blacks. The Xpress 10 binding is age-appropriate.
If the kid is racing or wants to be a park rat, this isn't the right choice. For the junior who wants to ski everywhere and try everything, it's a solid pick.
