Oakley Target Line
Target Line family · 26/27
Technology
Jumbo Cylindrical Lens & Flattened Brow
A large cylindrical lens — flatter top-to-bottom than a spherical or toric lens — set in a low-profile frame whose brow line is flattened so the goggle sits flush under an Oakley helmet.
Standard Neutral-Contrast Lens (Plutonite, HDO)
Oakley’s non-Prizm lens: injection-molded high-impact Plutonite with High Definition Optics at Optical Class 1. The material itself blocks 100% of all UVA and UVB up to 400nm. The neutral tint darkens the scene without Prizm’s engineered contrast boost.
O-Matter Frame & Triple-Layer Foam
A soft, pliable O-Matter chassis that conforms to the face in the cold, triple-layer face foam with a moisture-wicking fleece layer against the skin, and discreet prescription notches at the temples for most glasses.

An anti-fog treatment that absorbs moisture before it hazes the lens, plus lenses Oakley tests to meet and exceed its stated ANSI Z87.1 and ISO 18527-1 impact requirements — an eye-protection standard, not a head-injury claim.

The Oakley Target Line is where Oakley’s goggle range starts: an oversized cylindrical lens in a slim, Sutro-styled frame, offered across three sizes from $93 to $125. At that price you get Oakley’s frame engineering and its helmet pairing, and the tradeoff is a standard tint in place of Prizm. Oakley sells the identical frame one shelf up as the Target Line Prizm at $114, where Prizm Snow lenses add engineered contrast for reading snow texture; the goggle here does not have that.
Where the Target Line does not cut corners is optics. Its Plutonite lens blocks 100% of all UVA and UVB up to 400nm through the lens material rather than a coating, and Oakley grades the optics High Definition Optics, Optical Class 1. Oakley states the anti-fog treatment helps absorb moisture and reduce haze. Oakley also tests the lens to meet and exceed its stated ANSI and ISO impact requirements, which is an eye-protection standard and not a head-injury claim. Comfort comes from a pliable O-Matter frame, a triple-layer foam whose inner face is fleece, and a brow line dropped flat so the goggle meets an Oakley helmet cleanly.
Lens choice on the Target Line is a weather decision. The tints we stock — Violet Iridium on the L, Dark Gray on the S — are both 14% VLT lenses that Oakley places in filter category 3 for bright light and sun-and-clouds. Because every SKU ships as a single fixed tint, with no swap mechanism and nothing spare included, a real change in conditions calls for a second goggle rather than a second lens. That makes the colorways we carry the wrong choice for anyone whose home days are flat and stormy; a higher-VLT tint is what that light needs.
Fit is the other half of the choice. Oakley cuts the Target Line in three: a large L, a mid M, and a small S, and our shelves hold the L and the S. Shoppers who value contrast in changing light over the low entry price should step to the Target Line Prizm, the identical frame on Prizm lenses; those chasing the widest peripheral view should look at Oakley’s Line Miner, a cylindrical goggle pulled closer to the face that opens around $176. Two caveats worth stating plainly: the silicone-lined strap, dual-pane construction and F3 anti-fog name are retailer claims, not FW26 catalog copy, and Oakley lists no weight for the Target Line at all.
Strengths
- +Plutonite lens itself blocks 100% UVA and UVB to 400nm
- +Flattened brow closes the gap under Oakley helmets
- +Jumbo cylindrical lens gives a wide field of view
- +Three-size L/M/S family covers large, mid and small faces
- +Prescription notches at the temples fit most glasses
Best For
Oakley helmet wearers with larger faces who want genuine Oakley optics at the entry price and mostly ride bright, sun-and-clouds days.
Limitations
- −Standard neutral-contrast lens, not Prizm’s engineered contrast
- −One fixed lens per SKU: no swap, no spare
- −Ordered 14% VLT lens is bright-light only, not storms
- −No weight or frame dimensions published by Oakley
Not For
Storm and flat-light regulars — the ordered 14% VLT lens is tuned for bright light only, and there is no swap system or spare to adapt it. Skip it too if you want Prizm contrast (the Target Line Prizm has it for $114), or if you need a published weight, frame dimensions, or an Asia Fit — none of those appear for this family in Oakley’s FW26 catalog. Small and mid faces should take the S or M, not the L.

Common Questions
- What is the difference between the Target Line L and the Target Line S?
- Mainly the fit size. The L is designed for a large-sized fit and the S for a small-sized fit; both share the same Target Line frame and lens tech, though the exact tint depends on the colorway. Oakley also makes a mid-sized M, and we carry the L and the S.
- Is there an Asia Fit version of the Target Line?
- No. The FW26 Oakley catalog shows no Asia Fit variant of the Target Line. Oakley does offer Asia Fit on some other models, such as the Flow Scape and Line Miner Pro, but not on this family.
- Which Target Line lens should I choose for the conditions?
- It depends on the light. The colorways we stock use a 14% VLT lens in filter category 3, which Oakley rates for bright light and sun-and-clouds. For storm or flat-light days you would want a higher-VLT tint, which means choosing a different SKU.
- Does the Target Line come with a spare lens?
- No. Each Target Line SKU ships with one fixed lens, and Oakley does not state an interchangeable or quick-swap lens system for this family. A second tint means a separate goggle, not a spare in the box.
- Is the Target Line lens a Prizm lens?
- No. This is Oakley’s standard neutral-contrast lens. Oakley sells the same frames separately as the Target Line Prizm at $114 US retail, which carries Prizm Snow contrast lenses.
