The take

The split-flex pattern is stiff for jumps but soft enough for butters — a rare combination at this price.

The Dark Horse is CAPiTA's budget-friendly park twin, and the standout feature is the unique split-flex pattern: 6/10 longitudinal (stiff nose-to-tail for stability on jumps) but 4.5/10 torsional (soft toe-to-heel for easy butters and presses). It's a rare combination that makes the board feel stable in the air but playful on the ground.

The Park V1 camber profile puts traditional camber underfoot that transitions to zero camber 4cm before the sidecut ends, with elevated contact points at nose and tail. This gives pop for jumps and side hits while keeping the tips catch-free. The 2x 30mm Carbon Aramid boosters add snap and stability.

On groomers, the Dark Horse handles itself but doesn't pretend to be a carving board. Edge hold is adequate, not exceptional. In the park, it excels at jumps (small to medium, under 50ft), side hits, jibbing, and buttering. The flat sections in the nose and tail ease buttering significantly.

Good value at ~$500 with legitimate tech — Carbon Aramid boosters at this price point is competitive.
