Last Width

104mmWide (102mm+)

The Speed 80 HV+ is the entry point into real ski boots for wider-footed beginners and low-intermediates. Flex 80 forgives sloppy technique while still giving enough response to progress through parallel turns, and the 104mm last means wide feet aren't crammed into a boot designed for someone else. The easy-entry design with softer plastic around the instep makes getting in and out straightforward.

At $210, it's one of the most affordable ways to get out of rental boots and into something that actually fits. If you're skiing 5-10 days a season on groomers, this boot will last you several seasons before you outgrow it.

Strengths

  • +Soft 80 flex is forgiving for beginners learning to flex forward
  • +104mm wide last fits broader feet without pressure points
  • +Easy-entry instep design — getting in and out is easy

Best For

Wide-footed beginners and early intermediates who want a comfortable, affordable piste boot to replace rentals.

Limitations

  • No walk mode — flat parking lots and lodge stairs are clunky
  • Will feel soft quickly as technique improves — expect to upgrade within 2-3 seasons
  • No GripWalk sole included out of the box

Not For

Intermediate-to-advanced skiers (flex 80 will feel mushy), narrow/medium feet, or anyone who needs walk mode.

Common Questions

Is flex 80 too soft for intermediate skiers?
For most intermediates, yes. If you can link parallel turns consistently and ski blue/black runs, step up to the Speed 100 HV+ (flex 100, same last). Flex 80 is best for beginners and those who prioritize comfort over performance.
What is the difference between Speed 80 HV+ and Speed 100 HV+?
Same 104mm wide last, same Sensor Matrix shell. The only real difference is flex — 80 vs 100. The 100 has more support for harder skiing; the 80 is softer and more forgiving.
