102mm— Wide (102mm+)
The Magna 110 S GW is the sweet spot of the Magna wide-fit lineup. Same 102mm last as the Magna 100, but you get a meaningful jump in shell performance: stiffer 110 flex, Mimic Gold liner instead of Select Silver, Power Shift forward lean adjustment, and cantable GripWalk soles. The Mimic Gold liner has pre-shaped heel and ankle pockets that heat-mold tighter than the basic liner, which translates to better heel hold without needing aftermarket work on day one.
Against the Dalbello Veloce 110 GW (102mm), the Atomic is lighter thanks to Prolite construction and offers better liner customization through Mimic Gold. The Lange LX 100 (102mm) is stiffer-flexing than its number suggests but has a more traditional build. If you want this boot's fit with even more precision, the 120 S moves up to a Mimic Platinum liner with Power Ankle Lock.
Strengths
- +Mimic Gold liner — pre-shaped heel/ankle, heat-molds for a true custom fit
- +Power Shift adjustable forward lean lets you dial stance angle
- +GripWalk cantable soles for better traction and canting adjustability
Best For
Strong intermediate to advanced wide-footed skiers who want real performance without cramming into a medium-last boot.
Limitations
- −No walk mode — not ideal for long boot-packing or touring approaches
- −Wide tongue can feel sloppy on narrower wide feet — pay attention during fitting
- −110 flex may underwhelm aggressive 180lb+ skiers — 120 S is the better call
Not For
Narrow or medium feet, beginner skiers who need softer flex, or anyone looking for a touring-capable boot with walk mode.
Common Questions
- What does the "S" mean in Hawx Magna 110 S?
- The S designation means it has upgraded features compared to the standard 110 — specifically the Mimic Gold liner (vs. Mimic Silver), Power Shift forward lean adjustment, and usually a higher-end buckle setup.
- Can I use the Hawx Magna 110 S GW with standard alpine bindings?
- GripWalk soles require GripWalk-compatible, MNC, or MN bindings. Most modern alpine bindings from Look, Marker, Tyrolia, and Salomon support GripWalk. Check your binding compatibility before buying.
- How does the Mimic Gold liner compare to the Select Silver?
- The Mimic Gold has pre-shaped heel and ankle zones that heat-mold to your specific anatomy. The Select Silver is a more basic heat-moldable foam. In practice, Mimic Gold gives noticeably better heel hold and ankle wrap out of the box.
