Rossignol's Whoopee is a kids ski and snowboard helmet built as a first, everyday lid — certified protection and a hand-tuned fit for $69.95, without the extras of the pricier models above it in the line. The outer shell is polycarbonate, bonded to the foam in Rossignol's "Glue On" hybrid so the lid stays light like an in-mold helmet while wearing like a hardshell. It meets the CE and ASTM marks a children's snow helmet is tested against — protection that lowers risk rather than promising it.
Fit is tool-free: a rear R-Fit dial turns by hand to snug the cradle over a beanie and hold it level. Inside, the Velvet & Mesh padding lifts out for washing; outside, soft ear pads plus a plain clip buckle keep it familiar. The vents stay open all the time to shed warm, moist air — welcome on spring laps, though there is nothing to close on a bitter morning. Goggles are needed, as there is no built-in visor.
The saving shows in the step-up gear the Whoopee leaves out. Its liner foam is Multi-Layer Face Foam, a comfort layer at the face — the repeat-impact EPP foam and roll chinpad belong to the dearer Whoopee Impacts — and there is no MIPS here. For a family that wants a tested, easy-fitting starter helmet and can skip the rotational system, that is a fair trade. Note the Whoopee ships as the helmet alone: check your child's head against the size range shown, and we can help you confirm the size if you are unsure.
