The take

The big selling point isn't the board itself — it's that Nitro finally made a beginner board in seven sizes across three widths. Almost any foot fits.

The 2026 Prime Chroma Cam-Out is a different board than the 2025 Prime Chroma. Nitro repositioned it firmly as a beginner board: swapped full camber for Cam-Out (more forgiving), and downgraded from Powercore II to Powercore and from sintered to extruded base. On paper, the construction went backwards. In practice, it's a smarter product for its audience.

The real story is the sizing. The 2025 came in four standard-width sizes. The 2026 comes in seven sizes across standard, mid-wide, and wide. That's a massive improvement for beginners — new riders often have bigger feet relative to their board, and toe/heel drag kills confidence fast. The expanded widths fix that problem.

Cam-Out camber gives you enough camber feel to actually learn edge engagement (unlike pure rocker), while the early rise in nose and tail keeps catches to a minimum. The 4/10 flex is forgiving without feeling sloppy. Directional twin shape rides better forward but can handle switch.

At around $390-430, this is a no-frills starter board. Extruded base means you never need to wax it. Powercore poplar is a fine wood core for the price. Don't expect speed or pop — expect reliability and forgiveness while you figure out the basics.
