The take

The Good Ride's Steph W said the edge hold surprised her — for a beginner board, it actually grips.

The Mystique is Nitro's true beginner women's board, and it's built around one priority: don't let the rider catch an edge and fall. The Gullwing Rocker profile — reverse camber between the bindings with camber zones under each foot — is specifically designed to eliminate the edge catches that make beginners hate snowboarding.

What separates the Mystique from generic beginner boards is the camber zones under the feet. Most pure rocker beginner boards feel like wet noodles — no grip, no response, no real feedback about what the snow is doing. The Gullwing profile gives you actual edge engagement when you shift your weight, which means the Mystique can teach proper technique instead of just hiding mistakes. The Good Ride's Steph W tested it and was surprised by the edge hold on hard snow.

The Powercore II (poplar + beech) is a better core than most boards in this price range use. It adds some liveliness and pop that pure poplar cores miss. The extruded base is the right call here — beginners don't want to think about waxing schedules, and extruded bases just work without maintenance.

The Radial sidecut is simple and predictable. No progressive tricks, no dual radius complexity — just a consistent turn shape that a beginner can learn to trust. The directional twin shape with Standard Core Profile gives the board a mild forward bias while keeping switch riding accessible.

Six sizes (138–155) is the widest women's size range in the Nitro lineup. Smaller women who usually struggle to find boards short enough have a 138 option. Taller or heavier beginners can go up to 155.

Steph W from The Good Ride noted it was "one of those boards that offers a good ride everywhere but nothing great" — and that's actually the perfect summary. It does everything adequately, nothing spectacularly, and that's exactly what a beginner needs. A beginner board that's great at one thing is usually bad at everything else.
