Blizzard Black Pearl 88
By PTO Team, Based on official specs and professional review consensus · Spec analysis + professional review consensus on this ski ·
The take
“The middle child that actually deserves the attention.”
The Black Pearl 88 sits right in the middle of the line — wider than the 84 for off-piste versatility, narrower than the 94 for groomer precision. It's the one most people should buy.
88mm with a two-piece titanal setup gives it a half-step more stability than the 84. You feel it in chop and crud — the ski stays calmer, absorbs more. The TrueBlend core still keeps it light at 1,610g, which is only 20g heavier than the 84. That extra weight is all titanal doing useful work.
14m radius at 164 is right in the sweet spot — medium turns feel natural, you can tighten up in bumps, and it doesn't fight you in longer GS-style arcs. It's a very easy ski to ski well.
Blizzard officially positions this as a W.S.D. (women's specific design) ski, but we sell it to everyone. The flex pattern and dimensions work for any intermediate-to-advanced skier who wants a capable all-mountain ski that doesn't demand perfect technique. Compared to the Nordica Santa Ana 87, the Black Pearl 88 is slightly more forgiving and a touch lighter. The Santa Ana has more authority at speed.
