Bataleon built the Women's Rave Double BOA as a women's-lasted, all-mountain boot for one job: be easy to live with and do a bit of everything. It is a ground-up 26/27 rebuild, and it sits at a medium flex — a 5 on the brand's own scale of 1 to 10 — so it supports a progressing rider without demanding an expert's input. It is a do-everything boot, not a stiff charger.
The reason to look at the Rave is the closure. Double BOA is a dual-zone BOA Fit System: a lower dial cinches the foot and instep, an upper dial cinches the cuff, and the two work independently. You dial forefoot and cuff tension separately and re-tension either one on the chairlift in seconds, tool-free and with gloves on. It is BOA-only — there is no lace or speed-lace version of the Rave — so if you specifically want traditional laces, this is not your boot. Inside is the P2 PremiumLiner — the higher of Bataleon's two liner tiers, and heat-moldable, so a shop heat-mold shapes it to your foot for a closer hold than it has out of the box.
The 26/27 rebuild shows up in two places. An articulating cuff flexes at a defined pivot instead of distorting the whole shell, which Bataleon added to clean up the boot's flex and feel, and Future Flex construction is meant to hold that medium flex over a longer service life rather than letting it go soft after a season. Underfoot is the SureGrip outsole — a grippy full-rubber sole for walking the resort. Note it is SureGrip rubber, not the Vibram XS TREK that sits under the Women's Salsa; for hard splitboard approaches the Salsa's Vibram grips better.
That Salsa is the boot that pulls a stronger rider off the Rave. On the same catalog spread it runs a stiffer flex 6, the Vibram XS TREK outsole and an upgraded Dual BOA H5 Fit System. If you charge hard and want more stiffness and damping, an upgraded closure and a grippier hiking sole, the Women's Salsa gives you all three; the Rave is the more accessible, easier-to-dial do-everything boot below it. P2 PremiumLiner (heat-moldable)
Bataleon's P2 liner, the higher of the two liner tiers on its 26/27 boot spread, above the P1. It is heat-moldable, so a shop heat-mold shapes it to your foot for a closer, more supportive hold than an out-of-the-box fit.
SureGrip Outsole
A full rubber outsole in a high-traction compound. Bataleon builds it for grip, cushioning and comfort underfoot across varied terrain, and it is the Rave's around-resort walking traction. It is SureGrip rubber, not the Vibram XS TREK that sits under the Women's Salsa — so for hard-hiking splitboard approaches the Salsa's Vibram sole grips better.
Articulating Cuff
Part of the ground-up 26/27 Rave redesign: a cuff that flexes at a defined pivot instead of distorting the whole shell. Bataleon added it to reduce shell distortion and improve the boot's overall flex and feel.
Future Flex Construction
A construction aimed at holding the boot's flex value stable over its service life, so it stays a medium flex rather than going soft and vague after a season or two. Bataleon frames it as retaining flex values over a longer period for consistent performance.
Internal AnkleHarness + External HeelLock
An internal ankle harness works with an external heel-lock structure to hold the heel down and cut heel lift, which is what keeps a medium-flex boot feeling connected to the board edge to edge.
