PTO is Beaverton's full-service snowboard shop. We carry boards, boots, and bindings from the brands that matter, fit every customer in person, and handle tuning and setup under one roof. Whether you're buying your first board or dialing in a quiver piece, we're here to make sure you leave with gear that actually fits you and the way you ride.

What We Carry

Snowboards

We stock boards from Burton, CAPiTA, Ride, and Nidecker— covering everything from beginner-friendly true twins to stiff directional freeride decks. Our floor stock is curated for Pacific Northwest conditions: boards that handle wet heavy snow, variable groomer surfaces, and the occasional deep day on Mt. Hood.

Every board in the shop is one we'd ride ourselves or recommend to a friend. We don't carry filler models just to have SKUs on the wall. Browse current inventory.

Boots

We carry snowboard boots from Burton, Ride, Salomon, and ThirtyTwo. Boots are the most important piece of snowboard gear you own — more important than the board — and we treat the fitting process accordingly. Our boot wall covers a range of flex ratings, closure systems, and lasts to match different foot shapes.

Bindings

Bindings from the same brands as our boards and boots, selected to pair properly with the setups we build. We match binding flex to boot flex and board flex, because a stiff binding on a soft board (or vice versa) defeats the purpose of both.

Boot Fitting

We approach snowboard boot fitting with the same rigor as ski boot fitting. It's not “try a pair on and see if it feels okay.” It's a process:

  1. Foot measurement. We measure both feet for length (mondo point) and width. Most people have slightly different sized feet — we fit to the larger one.
  2. Shell check. We pull the liner out and have you step into the bare shell. This tells us how much room your foot has inside the boot independent of the liner. It's the most accurate way to determine true fit.
  3. Flex matching. We match boot stiffness to your riding style and ability. Softer boots for park and freestyle, medium for all-mountain, stiffer for aggressive freeriding.
  4. Closure system. BOA, traditional laces, or speed lacing — each has trade-offs. We'll walk you through the differences and help you decide based on how you ride. Read our BOA vs. lace guide for the full breakdown.
  5. Walk and flex test. You'll lace up the boots, walk around the shop, do some deep knee bends, and spend enough time in them to know if anything feels off before you take them to the mountain.

Binding Setup

When you buy a board and bindings from us, setup is included. We'll set your stance width based on your height and riding style, dial in your binding angles (duck stance for freestyle, forward angles for freeride, or a neutral setup for beginners), position the bindings on the board (centered or set back), and align your highbacks for proper heel-side response.

We also check toe and heel overhang with your boots strapped in to make sure you won't get boot-out during deep carves. If the board's waist is too narrow for your boot size, we'll tell you before you leave the shop — not after you eat it on a heel-side turn.

Board Selection Guidance

Choosing the right snowboard involves more than picking a length off a size chart. We walk you through:

  • Shape: True twin, directional twin, or directional. Determined by where and how you ride.
  • Profile: Camber, rocker, flat, or hybrid. Each behaves differently on edge, in powder, and through turns.
  • Flex: Rated on a 1–10 scale by most manufacturers. Softer boards are more forgiving and playful. Stiffer boards are more responsive and stable at speed.
  • Size: Based on weight primarily, with height and boot size as secondary factors. We size you to the board, not the other way around.
  • Width: Standard vs. wide. Driven by your boot size. If you're above a men's 10.5 or so, you likely need a wide board to avoid boot-out.

Tuning Services

Your board needs regular maintenance to perform its best. We handle everything in-shop:

  • Hot wax: Temperature-specific wax matched to PNW snow conditions. We recommend waxing every 3–5 days of riding.
  • Edge tuning: Side edge and base edge work to restore grip on hardpack and ice. We set edge angles based on your riding style.
  • Base repair: P-tex fills for gouges and scratches. Core shot repair for deeper damage.
  • Full tune: Base grind, edge work, and hot wax. The full reset for the start of the season or after heavy use.

Location

We're located in Beaverton, right on the route from Portland to Mt. Hood. Stop in on your way up, pick up gear, get a tune, or drop off equipment after a day on the mountain. For directions and hours, check our shop page.

Rentals and Lessons

In addition to retail, we offer daily and seasonal rentals for snowboards, boots, and helmets. Our rental fleet is maintained in-shop with the same care as the gear we sell. Seasonal rentals are especially popular for kids who grow out of gear every year.

We also offer lessons on our indoor ski machine — a great way to build fundamentals before your first day on snow, or to work on specific skills without buying a lift ticket. Book a rental or lesson online.
